WMYJS Workshop in Oakengates, Telford.
Children across West Mercia attend the workshop as part of their reparation hours allowing them to make either direct/indirect reparation to the community. The workshop allows them to learn new skills whilst helping to create items that can then either be donated back to local communities or sold to raise monies for local/national charities.
Our workshop also has newly established links with a local craft fair sale in Oakengates, enabling goods that are made by children in the workshop to be sold and proceeds to go on to charitable causes.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Experience with a variety of machines including a lathe
- Construction of woodworking items including bowls, bird tables and bird boxes
- Detailed experience and guidance from initial stages until the finished product
- Working alongside a positive role model, learning new skills and developing a greater understanding about the harm their actions have caused.

The charities that the children have suggested we support in the future from proceeds of the items they have made include Cancer research UK, Dog Trust, Birmingham Children hospital, MIND, any children’s charities, or charities for people with physical disabilities.
We have also made specific donations to charities that victims have suggested to us.
